Longavi Glup Cinsault 2017
Valle de Itata, Chile
Longavi wines is a collaboration between Chilean producer Julio Bouchon and South African winemaker David Nieuwoudt. The Glup! wines were produced to showcase the best of the terroir and fruit flavor with native yeasts and aged naturally in an 'amphora' for 6 months without stabilization, finning or filtration. The choice of Cinsault grapes reflect David's South African winemaking heritage, while knowledge of the Chilean terroir is Julio's specialty. The Itata Valley is one of Chile's most historic winemaking regions and home to a new generation of young winemakers pushing the Chilean envelope. One should note the presence of brettanomyces in this wine. Is it a fault or pleasant funk? You decide!
