Mader, Pinot Blanc 2019
actually 66% Auxerrrois, 33% Pinot Blanc
This wine shows classic white flower aromas from the Pinot Auxerrois, as well as citric aromas, citrus on the palate, with a little creaminess in the texture from lees aging. All grapes are hand harvested and pressed whole cluster.
Fermentation is with native yeast in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for 6-8 months before bottling with light filtration. The Pinot Gris from Grand Cru Schlossberg (8% of the juice) is aged in used barrel.
The Mader domaine is a small (about 10 hectare) winery near the picturesque town of Hunawihr. Their vineyards include the famous ‘Rosacker’ Grand Cru and Grand cru Schlossberg. All farming is done organically and by hand.
